Are infrared home inspections worth it?

Even current home owners with no intentions of selling would benefit from having a thermal inspection done. Infrared technology is a good addition to a visual inspection, and doesn’t negate the need for an inspector with experience and knowledge of all systems that make up a home. As always, choose wisely!

Are infrared thermometers really accurate?

Research has shown that, when used correctly, infrared or no-contact thermometers are just as accurate as oral or rectal thermometers. No-contact thermometers are popular among paediatricians, as kids often squirm around when trying to get a temperature read, but it also holds true in mass temperature screenings.
For examples: I can see if there has been a past or current water leak, air intrusion and if anyone has tried to hide repairs of any of these issues. I see defects your eyes can’t see, if you don’t know what to look for?
The police use similar infrared on crime scenes, quite a few thousand $’s difference.

Can you use infrared thermometer on humans?

Yes. Infrared thermometers are capable of detecting the temperature of the human body. However, the device measures the surface temperature of the body. For clinical temperature measurement, you should use contact thermometers.
